Who Qualifies?
Children ages 3-5 years old before/on entering kindergarten
The applicant:
Must live with the child
Do not need to be employed/in school/participating in job training
Gross monthly income (before taxes and deductions) must not exceed income limit by family size
Documentation (provide copies)
For parents:
Court decrees/custody agreements/legal guardianship
Income verification (W-2 form, pay stubs)
For children:
Birth Certificate
Application Process
Applications for POD will not open until January 2nd to March 31st of each year. Either complete the application online or contact the nearest CCCH office (Honolulu) to request a physical form.
Complete application online or mail paper form
If online: go to https://childcaresubsidyapplication.dhs.hawaii.gov/
If paper form: complete and submit application along with providing required supporting documents to the PATCH main office (Oahu) by physical drop-off, mailing it to the address, OR email to PODAdmin@patch-hi.org
Clients will be notified whether they are accepted or not around the month of May after the application window closes on March 31st
Clients will receive paperwork once selected and they will have 20 days to turn everything in
Will be given 10 extra days IF client needs extended time
Application will be terminated if paperwork is not turned in one time
Clients will have the option to reapply within the January-March application period of the following year
If extra funds are provided, there will be more application periods within the school year
After paperwork is received and approved, subsidies will be paid directly to selected preschools
