There they were:
Looking at the stars,
the tide,
the birds.
To get a glimpse of life
in this vast- vast sea.
So here I am
A young Micronesian woman
navigating the concrete blocks
and life with no guarantees
No matter how many people
I try to please
No matter how many roots of mines
they try to weed
My blood is the blood my ancestors bleed.
So here you are
fellow Navigator
passing by with every bit of abundance,
every bit of ancestral knowledge,
to acknowledge,
every soul around you.
To recognize others' struggles.
To respect our diversity
and cherish our unity.
So here we are
navigating the concrete blocks
and rough seas
Surrounded by other Navigators that are driven.
Coming from lifestyles that colonizers
deemed was not “livin”.
So here we are,
Young Navigator,
“Safe sails”
“Safe Sails”
