A view into the entry of KKV’s medical clinic.
Planning for the Future
KKV was recently awarded a competitive American Rescue Plan (ARP) grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the primary federal agency for community health centers. The $626,000 grant supports construction/ renovation and equipment purchases. Given the high cost of construction in Hawai’i, we have an opportunity to make some modest changes to our main medical clinic over the next two years.
Although we are just beginning the planning phase, KKV has some important goals. The biggest is to make the experience of coming to the clinic more friendly and welcoming for our patients. We want to create greater privacy for confidential discussions, and improve KKV’s ability to serve families and patients needing special assistance. Finally, we aim to make the space, which has become crowded as KKV has grown, more accommodating for all of our diverse services.
The planning process is involving staff from many different departments who are working together to consider patient and staff needs, as well as a vision for how KKV can improve the overall patient experience.
